More About Jobs
The Government website claims:
"NB Power employees will keep their jobs, collective agreements will be honored, pension plans will remain the same, and jobs will remain here in the province. The Government of New Brunswick stands by the work force in this province and assures this proposed deal will not only allow the province to keep our current work force employed, but allow for the employment of many other New Brunwickers in the future."
Here is what you are not being told
- "Collective agreements will be honoured". First of all, the word "honored" isn't spelled the Canadian way - makes you wonder who wrote that sentence? Secondly, honoured until when? Aliant laid of hundreds of people when Ma Bell took over, and they don't care that jobs where lost in New Brunswick. Do you think Quebec Hydro will care in a few years? Of course not!
- Check out all of the comments on the Government site about Jobs - incredible! Who are trying to fool that NB Power and support jobs will not be affected.
- Read a report by the Atlantic Institute for Market Studies about this MOU, here are some quotes:
...The MOU indicates that power supply will increasingly come to be supplied from resources not currently in service in New Brunswick. HQ is expected to supply power from its Quebec resources, especially after the two interconnections between the two provinces are improved. New Brunswick is expected to rely increasingly on supply from privately-owned, independent power suppliers after a competitive process. (TRANSLATION - NEW BRUNSWICK BASED JOBS MOVING TO QUEBEC)
